I’m Ola Blomgren, an artist based in southern Sweden. My background is in illustration, design and film, and I’ve spent most of my working life creating images in one form or another.

In my art practice, the line is where it all begins for me.

It can be controlled or instinctive, quiet or restless, and I’m drawn to what happens in that tension. Painting gives me a space to slow down and be completely present in the moment.

I often begin without knowing where a piece will end up. That uncertainty is a big part of what interests me — when something unexpected happens and the work begins to take on a life of its own.
